We live in interesting times.
One of the blessings of our time is the ready access to all the world’s wisdom traditions. Only 50 years ago, East was East and West was West. Now, with a click, you can dive deeply into the writings of ancient sages from around the world, and enjoy the videos of contemporary teachers.
But.
One of the challenges of our time is the overwhelming, ever-expanding bombardment of teachings. With a click (or two or three) you can become lost in a maze of metaphysical babble and spiritual hype.
What should you take seriously?
Who should you listen to?
How can you discern the difference between guidance and garbage?
This week’s Nano Teaching, curated from a longer program in the Wisdom Heart Community, provides some humorous guidance in the form of a Sufi teaching tale featuring Nasruddin. Nasruddin is a holy fool, a trickster figure, who appears in thousands of Sufi teaching tales. His teachings appear to be jokes…but, if you get the joke—you wake up! Enjoy:
