The holy grail of the modern age is the elusive “balanced life.”
Quite frankly, it’s exhausting.
Not only that, but the constant trying to get work and life to balance is like studying for a PhD in Genetic Reconfiguration of the Ethereal Universe and its Structure. Seriously. It’s so delicate and precarious.
It’s as if we are tightrope artists walking with a balancing bar, between two skyscrapers, in high wind. One millimetre either direction, and you’re done for. So few of us can maintain that amount of concentration and equilibrium without once wobbling.
So, what if there were another way—a more stable one, at that? A way that didn’t knock us off the rope with the slightest of wobbles, but that allowed for the ups and downs, the trials and tribulations of life?
How would your life be if you had this information? How would you be? What would you do differently?
I’ll let you in on a secret. I have that information, and it’s quite simple: It’s not about balance at all. It’s about alignment.
When we’re aligned with who we truly are, we operate from a position of strength, a strong and steady foundation, an unwavering place of stability. When we’re aligned with who we are, our life comes into alignment with us, not the other way around.
Right now, most of us allow what is outside of us to determine how our lives should be. In other words, we live in misalignment with our true selves. This creates anxiety, stress, unhappiness, overwhelm, confusion, chronic illness, chronic pain, and a whole heap of other things.
All we need to do is become aware of ourselves again. To have awareness of self, we need to be open to receiving. It’s that simple.
Before I end this article, let me share a nice, easy technique to build awareness and openness.
Simply breathe.
Close your eyes.
Put your hands on your belly, below your navel.
Focus your breath into that space below your hands.
Breathe in and out three to five times.
Repeat as necessary.
Simplicity is the key.
