The Midrash, in beginning the discussion of the portion Devarim, asks this question: The Torah was written in Hebrew, but are you allowed to write the words of the Torah in all the languages of the world? They say that yes, you are allowed to take the Torah and write it in all languages, because Moses, on the Shabbat of Devarim, takes the Torah and speaks it in all 70 languages of the world. But what does it mean that Moses spoke it in the 70 languages of the world? What is the secret there?
When a righteous person speaks, he is speaking to every single individual, and what he says reaches each individual in a way that is unique to them; each person feels that what is being said is being spoken directly to them. When an elevated soul speaks, not everybody receives the same message, because every person hears what they feel their soul needs to hear. They feel the message is given directly to them. And even if those who are listening are on different spiritual levels, when an elevated soul speaks, each person hears it on the level where they are. The words of wisdom that go out of an elevated soul become separated and spoken on many different levels.
This is the power of a soul such as the Ari and Rav Shimon Bar Yochai; when they speak, their words break off into endless levels, and every individual who hears them receives exactly what their soul needs. Therefore, this is the difference between learning wisdom from anybody versus learning wisdom from a soul such as Rav Isaac Luria or Rav Shimon Bar Yochai and the Zohar. What they are able to reveal through their teaching is a language, a Light, that shines through all individuals, giving each soul exactly what it needs.
This means that when each one of us reads, for instance, one line in the Zohar, in that one line of the Zohar there is the Light, wisdom, and message that we each need individually. And the message I need is different than the message you need. This is what Moses was doing on Shabbat Devarim; it is like a rock that is broken apart and splinters into endless pieces. Every soul receives exactly that “splinter” - meaning spark, wisdom, or message - they need. That is the power and Light of the Zohar and of the Ari. In every single message they give, in every single word and line of theZohar, what you get out of it will be different than what I get out of it. Each of us has the ability to extract completely different messages from that word or line of theZohar.
Therefore, when it says that Moses explained the wisdom, the Torah, in 70 languages, it means he injected the true wisdom - the Torah and the Light of the Zohar - so that every single person gets exactly what their soul needs out of those teachings. That is the gift Moses gives us on this Shabbat.
The awakening we want to receive from this is that the next time we read the Zohar, we understand that we are not just simply reading wisdom that can help ourselves and others, but also that there is a spark of Light, wisdom, and understanding in the section of the Zohar that you, and only you, need. And in that same section of theZohar, there is a spark of wisdom and Light that only I need. There is no other spiritual teaching that has the ability to shine to us, specifically, what we each need individually in any specific time. That is, maybe, one of the most important understandings of the Light of the Zohar, and it is a gift Moses gives on this Shabbat, awakening us through that revelation.
