Honesty

No legacy is so rich as honesty. -William Shakespeare

An honest life is my goal. It is not always easy, usually because I'm afraid that if I'm honest then I will not be accepted. John Powell, a Jesuit, wrote a book that explores this theme: Why Am I Afraid to Tell You Who I Am? Fear! I'm afraid that if I'm honest, then you will not love me. But if I'm not honest, if I hide in lies and secrets, can you really love me? No, because I'm not there. When I pretend, the real me becomes invisible. You cannot love what you do not know. Dishonesty keeps me anonymous. Hence we need honesty. It is the backdrop to our dance in God.

I seek to live an honest life on a daily basis.
