Mindful Relationships & the “Tinderification” of Dating.

“Dating is complicated. It is simple.” ~ Waylon Lewis

7 Thoughts on Mindful Dating:

1. Don’t play games.
“Don’t think about when you’re going to reply. Just breathe. The best relationships are genuine. Communicate. Respect the other person.”
2. A Human Being is more than a List.
“Opposites attract. Shared values are important. We all have our lists, and then all of that just falls away when you meet someone whom you genuinely connect with. The list just falls away.”
3. Show Up.
“If you’re dating people you’re attracted to, but they’re playing games, just move on. They’re not grown up. At some point you’re going to find someone who’s willing to show up for you. And then it’s simple. It’s not easy, but it’s simple.”
4. Basic Compatibility.
“If there is some basic compatibility in your lives in terms of what you want, that’s a good base to build a life together.”
5. Friendship.
“If the basis of your relationship is friendship, with a spicy side dish of passion, that’s awesome.” (A blah friends with benefit situation, probably not)
6. Spaciousness within the Relationship.
An 84-year-old-man was asked, “How do you do it?” with regards to his relationship. His response:
“I wake up every single morning, pleasantly surprised that my wife has chosen to be with me, and I admire her.”
7. Maitri.
It’s about being of benefit to others—in a relationship, or alone.
