Planting

Studies show that gardeners have a lower incidence of heart disease and osteoporosis than nongardeners.

Mindful gardening . . . what a treat! Keeping our awareness on what we are doing in each moment. Smelling and feeling the soil, the flowers, the water. Being one with the plants. Feeling a part of the earth. Being aware of the muscles we are using when we dig into the earth. The joy of cutting a stem from the bush and bringing it in the house to enjoy the flower. The joy of planting a seed and seeing it sprout. The joy of turning the corner and seeing your garden in front of your house. The joy of seeing a plant from the window or in our room when we wake in the morning. The joy of feeling the sun on our bodies, the breeze against our hair and clothing.

Being one with nature brings me great joy.
