War

"We have the power to make this the best generation of humankind in the history of the world-or to make it the last." - John F. Kennedy

War is tragic because it always destroys. War kills creation itself. The immensity of war is such that it cannot be fully comprehended. Only isolated aspects can be understood: a child is maimed, a treaty is broken, a race is blamed, bullets are heard, and a history is ended in silence. My addiction was a kind of war-a silent war that existed within me as an individual, and in my family. My creativity was attacked from the inside.God was forgotten in my acts of destructive selfishness. Today I practice sobriety. My adherence to a program of recovery allows me to live in peace, one day at a time.

Teach me to make peace in my life.
