The fault is in us. -Hannah Arendt
Mahatma Gandhi is supposed to have said that an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind. My mother said to me once, shortly before she died, that religion scared her because it often seemed so sure of itself. Dogmatic religion is frightening. That's why I want to Say Yes to Your Spirit, because it is gentler. It is less perfect. It accepts the gray in all of us. We all make mistakes. We say, do, and think things that we wished we hadn't. Oh yes, there is fault in all of us. And that's what makes us so lovable. The Charlie Chaplin tramp is adorable because he is not perfect; he's a wonderful rascal.
I affirm and celebrate the fault in me.
