Thanks and Giving (GZ)

Thanks is powerful medicine. It is another word for gratitude. Gratitude is another word for love. You hold high in your life and deep in your heart what you are grateful for. It is the source of warmth for you when you are cold and the source of light for you when you are in darkness. Thanks, gratitude, and love come from the heart.

Are you thankful that another was injured instead of you? That is an experience of fear. Are you thankful that you were injured instead of another? That is an experience of love. Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote, “Each man takes care that his neighbor shall not cheat him. But a day comes when he begins to care that he does not cheat his neighbor.  Then…he has changed his market-cart into a chariot of the sun.”

Thanks and gratitude look different from a market-cart than they do from a chariot of the sun. From a chariot of the sun you are grateful for the opportunity to walk upon the Earth with others, to contribute to others, and to contribute to Life. When you are grateful for Life – not this part of Life or that part of Life, but Life and all that It brings you, you are riding in your chariot. When you are grateful for Life when It brings you joy but not when It brings you pain; when you get what you want but not when you don’t, you are riding in your market-cart.

When you trade your cart for your chariot, every day, every moment, is Thanks Giving.

Love,
