Negativity.
I’m not just talking about the annoying kind. The “Ugh, it’s raining” kind. I’m talking about the kind that consumes our mornings. The kind we scroll through before coffee. The kind we share with friends like it’s breaking news—because it is—but also because it’s addictive.
Yes, addictive.
We love to say we hate drama, but look around. We feed off it. We binge it like junk food. We wake up and plug into fear, war, chaos, and division, and then wonder why we’re not manifesting peace, love, abundance, or anything remotely beautiful.
Being Informed Isn’t the Same as Being Consumed
Here’s my unpopular opinion: We’re not addicted to information. We’re addicted to cortisol.
We’re addicted to that surge of righteous anger. That high of being “right.” That momentary hit of “Can you believe this?!”
We tell ourselves we’re staying informed. But what we’re actually doing is keeping ourselves in survival mode. Nervous system? Shot. Emotions? Hijacked. Energy? Nowhere near high enough to manifest anything good.
Let’s be real: It’s impossible to attract joy when our entire body is stuck in fight-or-flight.
And the thing is, most people don’t even realize it. They think they’re “woke.” They think being plugged into every crisis means they care more. But what if that constant exposure to chaos is actually making us numb? Drained? Reactive instead of intentional?
What if our nervous system can’t tell the difference between caring and collapsing?
Where’s This Anger Really Coming From?
Here’s something that stings: Some people don’t want to stop feeling angry. Because if they let go of the rage, what’s left? If they stop pointing fingers, they might have to look inward. If they drop the drama, who even are they?
We can’t manifest a new life if we’re still addicted to our old personality. And for a lot of people, that personality is built on struggle. On reacting. On blaming. On being the “one who fights back.”
But the cost of staying in this state is that you might win arguments online, but you won’t win at life. You won’t see shifts. You won’t attract miracles. You’ll keep waking up to doom, defending your beliefs, and wondering why everything still feels so damn heavy.
So, I’m not telling you to ignore the world—I’m telling you to protect your energy while navigating it.
You can be aware, and still be calm. You can care, and still choose joy. You can feel outrage, and still choose to align with peace. Not because you’re “spiritually bypassing,” but because you refuse to be a pawn in the game of fear.
Is your Energy Creating the Life you Want?
Manifestation requires nervous system regulation. It requires feeling safe in your body. It requires space. Breath. Curiosity. Play. Vision. And you can’t get there if you’re doom-scrolling every hour.
So maybe start here: Notice how your body feels the next time you read the news and feel yourself getting pulled into the drama. Notice if your jaw tightens. If your heart races. And ask yourself: Is this energy creating the life I want?
At some point, you have to choose. Do you want to keep proving your point? Or do you want to live your dreams?
Because we can’t have both, at least not in the same nervous system.
And honestly, I think it’s time we choose better.
