Change

My understanding of spirituality tells me I will change my mind, attitude, and opinions. My understanding of sobriety tells me I will grow in understanding of myself, God, and others. I am not afraid to change my thinking. During my years as an addict, I was fixed and rigid about everything. I saw it as weakness to change my mind. Now I understand I was afraid of change, of not having the answer, of not being in charge. In treatment, I learned to understand spirituality as reality: seeing things as they are, rather than how I want them to be. I accept that life is about change and that truth is a process toward which I evolve.
