{*Did you know you can write on Elephant? Here’s how—big changes: How to Write & Make Money or at least Be of Benefit on Elephant. ~ Waylon}
Frida Kahlo has been my inspiration for many, many years now.
Her resilience in the face of pain has long been an encouragement and an example whenever I would face difficulties or challenges.
Like Kahlo, I have endured emotional pain and many losses that have knocked me down. But, unlike her, I always want quick fixes.
I want to heal fast and feel empowered again in no time. Unfortunately, mending a broken heart isn’t my strongest attribute. I tend to oscillate between positive feelings and desperation without ever knowing how to find a middle way.
When I’m hurt, I instantly feel guilty and shame myself for not feeling good enough. This roller coaster of strong emotions after heartbreak almost always brings me to my knees. Eventually, I surrender to pain and let things be.
However, letting things be doesn’t always come easy to me. Sometimes I need to experience many ups and down before I settle on a middle way.
Kahlo overcame many challenges in life, and more importantly, she developed wisdom over time that helped her set a good example.
Out of many quotes that inspire me on a daily basis, this one keeps me grounded and sane:
“I think that little by little I’ll be able to solve my problems and survive.” ~ Frida Kahlo
Kahlo has taught me over and over again that life’s most difficult obstacles require patience and hope.
Looking back now, I have solved all the problems that have once weighed me down. I, like many of you today, have survived. I have conquered my fears and worries and recovered from unforgettable pain.
I need to remind myself, every single day, that I may not be able to fix what’s wrong right away, but I can give it time. I can be kind to myself, more gentle, more forgiving. I can acknowledge my emotions and allow them to roam my body and soul freely.
Kahlo reminds me with her words that, little by little, it will be okay. I will be okay.
