What the Internet Hive Mind got Dead Wrong in 2025.

“And I bet the guy isn’t actually doing anything about it. Not even calling his reps, nothing. It’s just an excuse to be careless and rude.”

What The Internet got Dead Wrong (Literally) in 2025.

We all have to do what we can, not just hate on, wait on, billionaires and governments?

Because if we’re waiting for The Man to save us without our forcing them to act…we’ll have a long wait.

This morning I was remembering that trend…was it around 2000? When the media and we readers/watchers couldn’t get enough of the “Green This or That.” You know: green your home! Green your commute! Green your bathroom! Eco paint! Green baby!

Back then, divided as we were—this was already the age of Bush v Gore, Iraq WMDs, Gingrich, and hating on Clinton/enjoying Clinton’s economic success…we were nevertheless unified enough, low temperature enough, to enjoy learning about how to be kinder to our own health and planet en masse.

No such consensus remains on that. If you’re manly, you have to eat meat with every meal, MAGA tells us. MAHA says yeah you can care about organics, but you support a President who through the EPA, is actively destroying our water, air, and planet’s future. The pedophile-hating party, MAGA/Qanon, now professes to think pedophilia is no big deal (especially if, as Megyn Kelly put it, they’re as “old” as 15).

As an environmentalist, as someone who sees the value in basic ethics, and non-violence, and leaving behind a cool planet for my baby and all future generations, as someone raised to be proud of my country without ignoring its history so that we might learn from it…I’m permanently caught in that shrug emoji. What’s happening? Which way is up?

A raging debate online (ironically) over the last few years has conveniently stated the belief that what we do doesn’t matter (nihilism, laziness, lack of accountability) because billionaires and governments need to take action but instead are actively causing harm.

The second part is true, particularly if we (accountability) vote for hateful, harmful governments—or possessing the ability, don’t vote at all. But the first part is dead wrong. Literally. If we want to live, as a species, as a family, as an individual, as a planet—if we love animals and want to protect our planet—we have to swim upstream. Go vegan (stop torturing animals, heating planet, return farmland to wild). Meditate (create peace inside). Vote (create peace outside). Do all we can. Boycott immoral businesses like Amazon and Tesla.

We have to turn the tide. Urgently. All together now.

Here’s my podcast and video about all that. Hope you enjoy:
