CoDA Weekly Reading

Did It Again but It’s O.K.

A big project of mine, at work, was withdrawn for further research because one person in power didn’t like that they weren’t consulted first. I felt ashamed in front of the team and lost faith in my judgment. It was my old all or nothing approach; either I am flawless and brilliant or I am a useless loser.

My team were supportive and kind but after a month they were letting me know (in a gentle way) that it was time to move on. I finally remembered that I am powerless over others and that I needed to hand it over to my higher power.

I have mostly moved past it now and have nearly all of my courage back. I want to finish this story by saying that I know that the project will eventually go ahead but I think that’s just more face-saving, which is okay, but thanks to CoDA I know that it is not necessary.
