Feeling at home in your life doesn’t just happen, it’s created.
But more importantly, it’s also chosen. Yet, the beautiful thing about life is that no matter how many times you may choose differently, you never run out of chances to get it right. To choose the life that’s meant for you. To find love, but also yourself.
Because the universe doesn’t seek to punish you or set you back, but to help you see what is always possible if you only believe in it.
You are entering a significant turning point in the month of October, though it could be argued it’s one that is significant for all of 2026.
It’s no surprise that many have been disappointed by the year of the fire horse, or the one year in numerology that promised new beginnings and action. Yet, we often forget that new beginnings don’t often happen gently or easily, but are forged through challenges, difficulty, and tenacity.
This year may not have gone as you, or even as I, thought it would, but it has been precisely what it was meant to be: a kickstart to getting ourselves, our lives, and our act together.
Many have said that 2026 has felt like a giant kick in the arse, and perhaps that is what we all needed, and maybe some of us still do. Just because we’re nearing the end of the calendar year doesn’t mean that time is running out though. After all, Lunar New Year isn’t celebrated until February and the astrological one doesn’t begin until March.
You have time.
We all have time.
And though we may need that kick in the arse, it doesn’t mean we need to rush about and overlook what’s most important. What the universe is trying to get us to see.
So yes, you are nearing a turning point in the lunar year and it’s one that really needs you to slow down and think through things. Within the span of three days, October 24-26, Mercury will station retrograde in Scorpio, retrograde Venus will move into Libra, and the Full Moon in Taurus will rise. This is a great deal of energy for one month, let alone in just a few days, so it’s crucial that you practice grace for yourself and for others, after all isn’t that why we’re all here?
While you may be accustomed to the moves of Mercury, including the delays it often brings, this one is decidedly different. This year, each of Mercury’s retrogrades were in water signs meaning that it wasn’t all about technology and travel delays, but in creating pauses for you to actually feel your feelings, no matter how scary it might seem.
The first Mercury retrograde was in Pisces in February, breaking our collective illusions but also reconnecting us with source. The second, in Cancer, helped us take care of ourselves and others, focusing on what is most important in our lives. And now the third, in Scorpio provides the truth we need to see so that we can make the necessary changes. It is all happening as it’s meant to, because as Mercury turns retrograde into Scorpio, Venus moves out.
Venus began her retrograde at the start of October in Scorpio bringing exes back from the brink and the uncomfortable truths you’ve tried to ignore. This has involved your relationships with others, not just romantically, but family, professionally and of course the one with yourself. Venus in Scorpio doesn’t ask sweetly for the truth, but exposes it, grit and all. It explores the shadow side of love, passion and sex, and holds nothing back. This is where we can see whether the story we’ve been telling ourselves is actually true.
Yet, now as Venus leaves behind these dark waters and moves into Libra, something has shifted and it’s part of what Mercury will now take over. Because not only can we no longer swallow our truth and put on a smile for our romantic partner, or boss, we can’t do it collectively while the fires of truth burn around us. Quite literally depending upon where you live.
Venus retrograde in Libra destroys codependency, the facade of happiness or togetherness while Mercury in Scorpio forces the issue.
And then, suddenly, the Full Moon in Taurus rises, a completion of a cycle that began on May 16 with the New Moon in this earth sign. Its energy decidingly different from the retrogrades it’s accompanying, although Taurus and Libra are each the ruling signs of Venus. The Taurus Full Moon asks us to look at themes of home, well-being, comfort, simplicity and care, not just for ourselves, but for the planet and the collective, especially with the North Node in Aquarius.
Because sometimes it does take something to completely fall apart before we can understand how we’re meant to put it back together.
Sometimes, we do need to choose the wrong path before we can see the right one. And I’m hoping that extends to how we are treating fellow members of humanity, and the earth right now.
Our homes don’t simply exist within the beautiful walls we sleep within, but on the ground that we walk on. Just as our collective isn’t only those you share a meal with, but those oceans away just hoping to do the same with their loved ones.
I don’t think anyone can deny that we’ve gotten off track, whether personally, collectively, or both right now. Many don’t recognize themselves, society, or the countries that they’ve called home—a sentiment that is echoed across the globe. But perhaps we all just need to remember that no matter how far we go down that wrong path, the right one still exists.
And so does the chance to choose it.
