On Monday morning, I was one of many who got a heads-up text from a friend: DOGE was coming to NOAA in Boulder—be ready.
Then came the confirmation: DOGE is in the building.
I grabbed the dog, jumped in the car, and drove straight to NOAA.
When I arrived—contrary to the Daily Camera’s lowball estimates—there were easily 100-200 people gathered on all sides of Broadway near the NOAA lab. Folks were holding signs, blowing whistles, chanting, and talking to the press.
Cars passing by honked in approval, and Boulder citizens of all ages showed up—some in work clothes, some with their dogs, all united in making their voices heard.
At a pivotal moment, David Skaggs—Boulder’s Congressman from 1987 to 1999—emerged from the building after speaking with security and confirmed to the crowd: DOGE was not in the building.
They may still try to come, and if they do, we’ll be ready. Thanks to Boulder’s local network, we know how to drop everything on a workday and show up.
DOGE: Boulder doesn’t want you here.
