I sit with the weight of the world pressing in—the latest headlines, the endless stream of outrage, the noise of a society caught in a cycle of reaction and division. It’s easy to get pulled in, to reflect back the same frustration, the same anger, the same fear.
But what if there’s another way?
I think about light.
When light hits an object, certain wavelengths are absorbed, and others are reflected—that’s what creates the colors we see. A red object isn’t inherently red; it’s just absorbing all the other wavelengths and reflecting red back to us. Emotions work the same way. If I take in anger and react with more anger, I’m just reflecting it back into the world. If I take in fear and let it shape my response, I’m amplifying it.
But what if, instead of reflecting negativity, I could absorb it and transform it? Like fire burning up everything that’s thrown into it—not holding onto the fuel, not resisting it, but instantly converting it into warmth and light. Love can be that fire. Not a soft, sentimental love, but a fierce, steady force that refuses to be tainted by the noise around it.
The world is filled with frequencies, like a vast radio spectrum of emotions. All the signals are out there—fear, hatred, division—but I get to choose which one I tune into. If I fixate on the chaos, I amplify it. But if I align with the steady frequency of love, the signal that holds everything together, I become something different. Not passive. Not detached. But clear.
In a world designed to keep us agitated, disruption feeds on itself. The more chaos there is, the harder it is to think, to see, to act with wisdom. Standing still in the midst of it isn’t inaction—it’s a deliberate choice to stop feeding the storm. To be an island of clarity in the flood of confusion. And from that place, something new can begin.
Not everyone will recognize it. Some will say it’s naïve, that action means fighting fire with fire. But fire left unchecked only burns everything down. What the world needs is more stepping stones, more places of stillness where something different can emerge. If enough of us become that clarity, the path forward starts to reveal itself.
So I sit. I breathe. I let the waves crash around me without being pulled under. And in that stillness, I remember—love is the frequency that holds everything together. It has always been there, beneath the static. I just have to tune in.
