{Editor’s Note: “Stop covering politics,” some of our dear readers cry every time we post something relephant. Look: politics are life. Equal rights, empathy, fair economy, healthcare. We can’t ignore what’s happening, and you shouldn’t either. Disagree? We’re happy to share your experience here. ~ ed.}

I didn’t want to write another “political” article.

I didn’t want to express my frustration, disappointment, and sadness at the state the world is in.

It’s 2026 and we have centuries of history and lessons behind us, yet here we are, in the throes of another storm, another darkened period, which has the potential for catastrophic destruction.

And I can’t just sit here, silently. Silence of the masses has landed us in an absolute clusterf*ck. Ignorance and lack of any sort of discernment will continue to erode the fabric of decent society. And complacency is either laziness or the exhaustion of fighting battles, knowing that the powerful will never back down—and this is, of course, what they want. They want us to lie down and submit, and that’s a dangerous place for all of us.

The world has gone f*cking mad. And though many people around the world are at odds with what’s happening, the madness continues.

The ugly side of humanity is on full display. The state of our world right now is inconceivable to normal human beings. The masses, being fed distorted truths. Half truths and blatant lies. We are living in a time where we have so much access to knowledge. The ability to dig a little deeper. The opportunity to study and learn from our history, to use our judgement and wisdom. To reflect on our cognitive biases and dissonance.

We have everything at our fingertips, yet we’ve drifted further astray than we’ve ever been before.

It’s absolutely mind-blowing to me that we have leaders around the world who still cannot use their f*cking words and instead need to blow things up. Bully whomever they can. Stand behind religions they knowingly miss the point of. Treat those who voted them in with utter contempt. Win, no matter the cost.

Toddlers behave better than this.

And this may upset some people, but at this point…I can’t let that stop me. These fundamentalist religions need to be dismantled and that’s all of them, because in every one of them women and children are at risk. Every damn one of them. Rape. Child abuse. Women losing autonomy over their own bodies. And these rapists and abusers are protected, time and time again.

The Epstein files read like a horror story, yet nothing happens. We expect heads to roll, but nothing happens. Why? Because those in power right now…protect themselves. Because this sort of filth is endemic amongst those in power. It’s an appalling insight into the state of the world. And we as a society, as decent humans, should feel sickened to our core. How can we be okay with living in a world that does not protect half the population, and the next generation? How can we continue the mistakes of our past and fight over whose God is better…fight over money, land, natural resources? The greed is heartbreaking.

We are supposed to be the intelligent, evolving species, yet here we are again.

Most religions flourish off their followers’ compliance. There’s little space for free thinking, critical thinking, or differing of opinions. They don’t like to be questioned. They preach beliefs as though they are facts, and their closed-mindedness makes it impossible to share a contradicting point of view. It speaks words of compassion, equality, and love, yet acts with indifference, judgement, inequality, hate, and violence. They prey on the vulnerable and desperate. I’m all for faith and religion as an individual choice, when it gives you hope, helps others, and makes you a better person. When it encourages sovereignty over oneself. When it is about kindness, respect, and peace to everyone. And when the most vulnerable are protected.

But most religions wear the mask of goodness, yet preach something far different. Your religion is yours, and when certain teachings of religion become problematic and inflict restrictions, consequences, pain, and punishment on others, we need to call it out. Religion has no place in politics, and politics has no place in religion. History shows us how damaging this can be.

It’s such a heavy space we live in right now. When people start talking about conscription? Conscription! It’s 2026! How the hell did we get here? The wars are started by men who never actually go to war. Who have never been on an actual battle ground. What a bloody joke. They want to throw the first grenade, sit back, and let other men and women—other people’s children—go and fight their mess, without a care in the world. Other people’s families die; for what? Sending people to war, like they are plastic figures on a board game because these egomaniacs need something. More power? Distraction? Money? Are we not sick and tired of this sh*t?

I’m angry. Too right I am. I am a woman who brought two kids into this world and now have a granddaughter, and this isn’t what I want for them. Every day, I hear some bullsh*t about men being protectors. It’s certainly not any of the men in power because they are destroying the place and making everything unsafe. As a woman and a mother, you know how I negotiate things? I have a conversation. I use my words. I use the power of communication. I don’t go around blowing stuff up because I had a temper tantrum and my ego is so big, I can’t lose. I also don’t stick my nose in everyone else’s business. But then again, I’m not someone who has appeared in the Epstein files, is a felon, or is an egomaniac. And I don’t have a sick desire to control the opposite sex.

We are not angry enough.

In reality, we should be rioting in the streets. The cost of living around the world is out of control. Pedophiles and rapists rarely get punished because so many of them hold positions of power. In some parts of the world, they want to bring in the death penalty for women who have abortions. Yet the rapists and pedophiles, well they walk free. It’s obscene. The Epstein files and their contents should see a whole establishment brought to its shameful and deplorable knees; instead we now have a war. Another distraction to take the focus off what’s in those files?

And I ask myself, like I know many have, would a matriarchal society lead us into such ugliness? Women are too emotional I hear you say. Men are the logical ones. But are they? Because from where I am sitting none of what is going on shows any logic. It shows men who cannot emotionally regulate. It shows men who cannot lead. It shows men who have to win at any cost. It shows men who stand behind religion. It shows a level of greed that surpasses the safety and care of human beings. It shows men who are terrified of women having any autonomy and power. Have we not tolerated this sort of society for long enough? Are some of us so indoctrinated and brainwashed that we think this is normal?

Do any of us really believe at this point that women are the emotional ones?

Everything being displayed on the world stage is emotional. A grown adult who emotionally regulates does not go around starting wars. Grown adults who can emotionally regulate are not filled with so much hatred that they disrespect life. They are not so filled with fear that they encourage and even implement laws that take away the rights of half the population. They don’t project all their ugly emotions out onto the world. Power is a dangerous thing in the hands of an emotionally unstable person.

More and more people are speaking out. More and more people have had enough. More and more people are waking up. But there’s still too many indoctrinated souls who cannot critically think, or perhaps it’s their cognitive dissonance. It’s an uncomfortable place to be holding a belief that’s incongruent when those beliefs conflict with behaviours. Avoiding new information, selective memory, or justifying and rationalising behaviours.

And I circle back to religion and learning to be compliant without question. You cannot learn critical thinking when you’re fed every belief and opinion and risk rejection should you dare doubt, query, or simply be an individual with their own ideas. When you submit to someone in power, you lose control over yourself. History is there in black and white and repeatedly shows us the truths, yet some of us would rather allow someone else to think for us rather than think for ourselves.

Anyone with children and grandchildren should be terrified. Creating a world where wars are started every time someone in power can’t play with all their toys. A world where women could be sent to death for having an abortion—haven’t we been here before? Burning witches at the stake. A world where men perpetrating violent crimes just walk free because nothing to see here. A world where powerful people can do as they want without ramification or accountability. A world that is becoming an increasingly unsafe place for women, children, the LGBTQ community, anyone who doesn’t have white skin, and anyone who dares to buck the system. So who is left? Who is safe? A group of powerful, power-hungry, controlling, damaged, misogynistic, megalomaniac white men with delusions of grandeur.

It’s time to make a stand. It’s time to stop standing behind a patriarchal establishment, which has been nothing but destructive. It’s time to stop upholding bible verses and values when those values do not align with kindness, respect, equality, and compassion. It’s time to stop hiding within the cloak of religion when that religion preaches hate to any human being. It’s time to stop worshipping fake prophets and leaders who have shown their true colours, over and over again.

We have the opportunity to evolve as we were meant to, and that’s not going to happen if we continue to repeat patterns and cycles that are hell-bent on destroying us. Everything humans touch they wreck. They obliterate. We just continue to display absolute f*cking stupidity like a badge of honour. It’s sad that so many of those in power have no regard for life or future generations. But I do, and everyone I know does. We want a safe, thriving, and peaceful world for all. It’s not a hard ask and it should be something we all strive for.

And I’ll leave you with one final reminder: people do not make wars; governments do, and it has nothing to do with the people they swear to serve. Let that sink in.
