Walk the Talk Show with Waylon Lewis presents:
In our longtime, ongoing “Walk the Talk Show” podcast and video series…
Waylon meets Jeff Fulmer, the author of the book “The Two Prophets,” and discusses how this is a book to help millions of readers digest, process, and even enjoy this over-full moment in human history.
“Touching on every issue we’re all going through in these turbulent times, it’s a page-turning adventurous read that’s fun, yet serious. You can sit down with a good book, read it, and take in current events—which are pretty stressful—but have a good time doing so because it’s been novelized. It’s a fun story. I read it and loved it. I’ll be reading his other books now.” ~ Waylon H. Lewis
Want to learn more about the book? We’ve got the goods, here.
Waylon: “ What was your inspiration around featuring these prophets as protagonists?”
Jeff: “The idea of prophets—for me—was intriguing. I grew up in an Evangelical church. We had a lot of Bible studies. They were coolest thing going, at least in the Old Testament. They had these kind of superpowers.
They could see the future and call down fire from the sky and at the same time, they’re very human. They have a lot of insecurities. Some of ’em don’t want the job at all!
It just got me thinking—as a thought experiment—what would it be like?
I feel like we could use a prophet now—someone to really speak truth to wisdom.
And there are a lot of people doing that, but someone that could speak for God, so to speak. And what would that look like? How would they get their message out today?”

“There are two things I really appreciate about your book.
Number one: it’s so fun.
I’ve read studies that—even in the past 10 years—literacy in the sense of people actually reading a book is dropping precipitously.
I’m surrounded by books, all the time. I have books everywhere. But even for me, I’m working online. So to just have the physical and mental and relaxing experience of reading a page-turner is a real service today.
Number two: I really admire that this is a novel for this moment.
It’s a novel for now.
It feels like your mission in writing it is not necessarily fun or silly. It’s practical and caring—you bring up so many issues we’re facing today. I made so many notes, as I was reading, of big to small issues that you touched on, things that we’re actually going through right now.”

Can’t watch? Why not listen:
“These are the moral issues of our day. And I think a lot of self-described, well-meaning religious people are missing the boat on a lot of these by either standing on the sidelines, being distracted by other things, or supporting policies that I find to be…and I think the Bible finds to be…morally reprehensible.
I had a bit of an axe to grind there. I tried not to be too heavy-handed with it, or make that the focal point. But I did have feelings that I wanted to express.” ~ Jeff Fulmer

Waylon: “ I think for people who are wanting to pay attention and to be involved but aren’t wanting to pay attention because it’s so easy to feel helpless or stressed out, reading “The Two Prophets” is a fun way to digest all that, and stay present with what’s going on while, you know, reading in the bath..!”
Jeff: “I want people to know that you don’t necessarily have to have the gift of prophecy to be a social advocate, to have a social conscience.
That’s what prophets were. They had to get the big people to pay attention, so they shared these miraculous signs.
But at the end of the day, they just saw something wrong and decided to fix it. I think everybody has that potential, and that capacity.”
