All the World’s Problems…are Workable.*
All our world’s problems can be solved right here, right now, over time, by each of us—but only if all of us show up.
Anti-vax and anti-science can only thrive in a world where journalism (search for and reporting of truth) is weakened. A Putin or Trump can only win in a context sick with lies. Billionaires can only exploit in a society with a hobbled government no longer by, of, and for the people. The world can only burn for all future time if people are so broke and stressed they can only focus on today, and escapism, that they can’t push aside plastic (pushed by Big Oil as it loses ground to cleaner, more affordable wind and solar) and invest in a clean, profitable, stable future for our next generations and all animals and this planet’s sake.
To fix the problems we have, we have to reform social media. We have to publicly fund journalism without interference by the government. We need experts and non-partisan public servants in all key locations within government. Reform taxation of the richest 8 kajillionaires, who own more than 50% of Americans and pay less/nothing in taxes.
Notice that Trump is pushing for the opposite on all fronts. The short-sighted, selfish grift is his only great skill. He is raping our democracy, country, and planet…for what? He’s 80 years old, and already wealthy beyond measure. His ill-gotten gains are not even good for his own grandchildren.
It’s for himself, at its most fundamental: his ego. We know that. It rings true. The solution is not to fight ego with ego, but to fight ego by developing friendship with ourselves. Meditate. Wake up to this present moment, in all its challenges and confusions and sadnesses and sunny details replete with beauty.
The solution is to invest in people, not Big Business. Invest in community—don’t get your coffee to-go in a toxic plastic-lined paper cup with a toxic lid…get it for-here and talk and listen with new friends at your favorite cafe. Invest in education. Invest in local. Invest in organic. Going vegan is one of two most powerful ways to tackle climate crisis and introduce love and healing into our planet and health. And in so doing, we invest in ourself. We invest in love. We invest in a kinder world.
Boycotting is equally powerful: divest from Amazon, divest from plastic.
All of this comes from a place of caring, of discernment, of joy, of solidarity. Meaning: we can save our world with joy. Not through unmanaged stress or hate or violence, for those are the mediums of the oppressors.
*except letting climate crisis continue un-addressed. We do that, and all the world’s problems are on a cracked foundation.
