Walk the Talk Show with Waylon Lewis presents:
This week on our longrunning, ongoing “Walk the Talk Show” podcast and video series, with awards and millions of views over the years…
We’re seeing a lot of talk about being Christian and the Rapture and all. Most of it is missing the point: Jesus’ message of compassion was radical for his time, and clearly still is today.
Genuine Christianity is not hate of “other,” not calling kindness “woke,” not viewing service as something for suckers and losers, not forgetting that compassion is what Jesus modeled.
This is for all of us. If we claim to be Christian —I certainly don’t, but I respect and love genuine Christians—we need to remember that Jesus has some stuff to say. Like the Buddha, he was a radical activist for his day, known for radical compassion and love with a capital “L.”
Hint: listen to Jesus.
“This is not a criticism of Christianity, this is a criticism of anti-kindness.” ~ Waylon H. Lewis
Watch the video:
“I feel like a lot of this is just a war in social media and we’re so full of our own speediness and hate right now. If we can all just come back—maybe it’s a boring message that people don’t care about—but if we can come back to the kind of Christianity for those who of us who are Christian, that I, at least for one, learned from the Bible and from Sunday School—which was about compassion and kindness and love with a capital ‘L’ …I think that would be helpful.” ~ Waylon H. Lewis
Can’t watch the video? Why not listen?
“Christianity, fundamentally—I hope—is about listening to Jesus’ message, and Jesus was about kindness. He was about compassion for our weakest, our most vulnerable.” ~ Waylon H. Lewis

“ Maybe we take the temperature down. Maybe we could get a little less involved in our anger and a little more involved in compassion and kindness.” ~ Waylon H. Lewis

“What I am requesting is participation. Elephant has 13 million fans on social media and millions of readers, but we are only able to bring folks together around caring, fact-based conversation—people who disagree but can do so agreeably or respectfully—if you participate and right now independent media is getting killed by Facebook, et cetera.
They smother and suppress links. So when you go to elephantjournal.com, when you go to elephantjournal.com/best and get our free newsletter, when you go to elephantjournal.com/post and write something and share it—you keep independent media live, but more importantly, you keep respectful conversation, community, and caring facts alive.” ~ Waylon H. Lewis
