Last Year…Sucked. Get Ready: The Year of the Fire Horse is nearly here.

(Feng Shui expert Anjie Cho w/Waylon Lewis).

Walk the Talk Show with Waylon Lewis presents:

In our longtime, ongoing “Walk the Talk Show” podcast and video series…

Waylon catches up with one of our favorite guests: mindful meditator, sangha friend, and feng shui expert Anjie Cho. They discuss how hard last year was, the Year of the Yin Wood Snake, what we should consider at the tail of the Snake year before the official shift into the Horse year, and what we can do to prepare before the Lunar, or Eastern, or Tibetan/Chinese New Year.

“It’s interesting. No one has said that last year was wonderful. They’re like—2025 sucked.

Because a lot of people had such a difficult 2025, many people have asked me: what can I do right now in this transition?

They recognize there’s this bardo—this in-between space—that feels important to pay attention to.

So what do we do specifically over the next couple weeks, if anything?

I’m asking people to sit down and think about like what is it that they shed in the last year. Notice what’s transformed, and what is still kind of there. Write that down and contemplate that. You could even burn that piece of paper and let it go. And then, think about what is it that you want to grow instead—you can use the energy of the Horse to propel you forward.”

Waylon: “What does the Fire Horse mean?”

Anjie: “The Fire Horse is a Yang fire year. Fire has the qualities of being all-consuming. A lot of inspiration, passion, movement. But…it’s not a little fire, like a little candle or a little incense stick. It’s like a bonfire. It’s a really, really big fire. Which seems appropriate ’cause it feels like the world is already on fire, right?

There’s a lot of big transformation. It can be all-consuming. It’s a strong energy, as with the horse. And, the horse is also related to the fire element.

Making it a very fiery, strong, speedy, passionate, transformative year.”

“Horses made human civilization much more advanced, and strengthened it. And so we can use that power to help us. The Year of the Horse doesn’t necessarily have to mean that you have to go fast like a horse. I’m looking at it as, what do you want to harness? What can you lead towards with mindfulness and what can you do to guide the energy and the strength that you have at your disposal this year in a more productive way?

Because you can just run in circles if you want, or you could be more mindful about it and lead that energy in the way that you wish it to go.” ~ Anjie Cho

Can’t watch? Why not listen:

“One intentional action that everyone can do before the lunar new year is to sweep your home. In feng shui, we think of it as though you’re sweeping out the Qi of last year!” ~ Anjie Cho
