New Moon of Aquarius: Clear the Water (MonB)

Thomas Edison. Galileo. Franklin D. Roosevelt. Abraham Lincoln.

What words come to mind when we think of these men? Visionary. Leader. Radical. Humanitarian. Idealist.

What they also share is that they were all born under the sign of Aquarius, and are perfect examples of this air sign’s essence: a capacity to create meaningful change—not just for ourselves, but in the world at large.

The symbol of Aquarius is the water bearer—a woman pouring water from a bucket. Water represents life itself: consciousness, desire, creativity, connection, and our resemblance to the Creator. The bucket is the vessel; it’s us. When we come into this world, we are given the clear water of awareness, knowledge, pure potential. However, as we navigate life, that water becomes muddied with negative actions, such as anger, jealousy, and gossip. Now, many of us are not out committing straightforward acts of negativity each day (thankfully), but even minor slips can add up over time.

You might already consider yourself a spiritual person. Maybe you’re doing good deeds every day. Maybe you are kind and generous.

But do you wake up dreading your workday?
Do you lose patience when things don’t go according to plan?
Does your spiritual practice energize you—or has it become something you do on autopilot?

Routine is where consciousness quietly slips away. Even positive habits can become stagnant if we never re-examine them. Just as we periodically check in with our physical health, we can also take a consistent inventory of our spiritual and emotional routines.

So how do we do this? Since the New Moon is inviting us to clear our water, I’ll offer a practice I call “Wash, Rinse, Repeat.”

WASH: Examine Your Routines

Start by taking a thorough, honest look at your daily patterns. Your spiritual practices. Your habitual behaviors and actions. Your work rhythms. How you react when things don’t go your way.

Similar to washing dishes, you’re not judging the mess; you’re addressing it. This step is about clarifying, not about criticizing yourself.

Ask yourself:

Am I doing this because I want to—or because it’s a habit?
Where have I confused “being nice” with being kind?
What routines might be quietly muddying my water?

RINSE: Try a New Approach

Aquarius energy thrives on experimentation and innovation, so choose small ways to disrupt your routine:

Example: If your work has become a slog, try approaching it with a new mindset by doing something to infuse the day with fresh energy. Put fresh flowers on your desk, play music, go for a walk on your lunch break.

New actions create new consciousness. Even subtle shifts can reconnect you to the Light.

REPEAT: As needed!

Return to this practice every three months—or whenever life starts to feel heavy, dull, or overly predictable. What once felt aligned may eventually need refreshing. That’s not failure—it’s evolution.

Aquarius reminds us that growth is about always growing, evolving, transforming, and doing so as radically and as innovatively as possible.

Clear water changes everything. It restores vision, vitality, and life force. It restores connection and creativity. It restores purpose. And when your water is clear, you don’t just feel better—you become a force for good far beyond yourself.

That’s the gift of Aquarius.
