The brutality with which we treat others is one of the reasons I do what I do.

Why I persist in walking the road less traveled toward redefining what it means to love—ourselves and other sentient beings.

It’s why I continue disseminating this information daily, in one form or another, to anyone willing to listen for nearly 10 years now.

I refuse to give up believing that humans are kind and generous and welcoming. Our hearts are powerful and we are capable of great heroism.

The violence we observe daily on the news—people killing people on the beach, in schools, within families (to just cite the news over past weekend)—is not who we are!

We have a choice.

Ahmed Al Ahmed chose to disarm a terrorist in Bondi beach attack where Jews were targeted, despite what someone who’d want to profile his allegiances may have thought.

His humanity won over any ideology.

Beware of weaponizing our traumas.

What we see on the news is a reflection of each of our choices in relationships with others.

Our families are the microcosm of our world.

The terrorist attack on Bondi beach was carried out by a father and his son.

What stories about the world and other people in it have we been raised on?

What stories do we pass on to our children?

What world do we want to leave to our grandchildren?

The distressing news is not happening “out there.” It reflects each of our daily choices.

We have a responsibility and we have a choice.

What will you choose to speak of in your home over the holidays?
