Every year, I hope and pray to the universe to take it a little easy on me.
I mean I want to learn and grow of course! But, a little gently perhaps.
But the universe is like…No! Not happening. Since you tend to be so stuck in your ways (yeah, I can be a bit stubborn!), it will push you out of your comfort zone with a kick!
And this year has been no different. 2025 didn’t just push me out of my comfort zone; it destroyed it. I went through and am still going through an identity crisis of sorts. A breakdown led me onto a spiritual path which forced me to change the way I have been looking at myself and operating. An old, and rather familiar, comfortable version of me had to die for a new identity to be born, and I’m somewhere in the middle—the void where the old me doesn’t make sense and the new me hasn’t fully formed.
2025 truly has been the year of shedding, outgrowing, and letting go. Interestingly, 2025 is called the year of the snake, and it marks the end of a nine-year karmic cycle. In many spiritual and numerological traditions, the number nine signifies endings, completion, and closure. It is the energy of release, and it’s not always gentle and graceful, just necessary. The Snake itself is a symbol of shedding, death and rebirth, and deep inner transformation. It does not rush. It sheds its skin slowly, deliberately, because it cannot carry what no longer fits into the next phase of life.
That is exactly what 2025 has been asking so many of us, and I’ve seen it happening not just with me but with so many others who were forced to outgrow old identities, confront patterns that were quietly running their lives. This year called a lot of us to face truths about ourselves, our relationships, fears, and desires. This year has also tested many of us emotionally, mentally, relationally, and spiritually.
It has been about breaking down illusions, surviving discomfort, and awakening to what can no longer be ignored. If it felt heavy, confronting, and emotionally intense then that wasn’t random. That’s what the energy of completion feels like.
And numerologically speaking, 2026 adds up to a one, which signifies new beginnings, rebirth, leadership, fresh identity, and a new chapter of the self. While 2025 was about ending, 2026 is about initiating. While this year asked us to let go, the coming year will ask us to choose differently, to move forward with awareness instead of autopilot, to build from truth instead of survival, and to operate from a new identity instead of an old wound. This is why the closing of this year matters so deeply, because you don’t enter a new cycle with clarity if you haven’t completed the previous one with awareness, self-reflection, and honesty.
What you don’t reflect on and release in 2025, you will carry , consciously or unconsciously, into 2026, and cycles will keep repeating. After all, the energy of a year is one thing, but making conscious choices is another.
2026 will be about choosing—who you want to be, how you want to show up as. This is not just a change of calendar. It’s the closing of an old karmic story and the opening of a new one.
